Business growth consultant · Paid on results

A business growth consultant you pay when the number moves.

Not before.

Most consultants bill for their time whether anything grows or not. We work the other way round: we agree one measurable target with you before we start, do the work, and get paid out of the result.

One number · Agreed in writing · Checked by your accountant

How it works

Three steps. One number.

01

Set the number

We agree one specific, measurable target with you, such as lifting EBITDA by $100,000 or cutting acquisition cost by 20%. The metric, the starting figure and how both are measured go in writing before any work starts.

02

Do the work

We work hands-on in the part of the business that moves the number: marketing, sales, operations, or wherever the lever is. No 200-page deck.

03

Get paid on results

If the number moves, we’re paid the agreed fee. If it doesn’t, we don’t get paid.

How the fee works

Priced case by case. Always on performance.

Every engagement is different, so the fee is set for each one before we start. What doesn’t change is that we’re paid from results, not hours.

A share of the gain

Say we promise to lift EBITDA by $100,000. If we do, we take an agreed share of that gain, for example 10% or 20%.

An amount per new sale

When the goal is new business, the fee can be a set amount for each new sale the work brings in.

A royalty as results come in

For new products, channels or markets, the fee can be a royalty on what they earn as they grow.

Whatever the model, it’s agreed in writing before the work starts: the metric, the starting figure, the target and the fee. Everyone knows what counts before anything moves.

Who checks the number

Your accountant does the counting.

If you have an accountant, they calculate the result, not us. The rule is like for like: the same accounts, the same definitions and comparable periods, so the before and the after can be compared fairly.

That’s why we spend time on the metrics before we start. Once everyone agrees what’s being measured and how, the counting is rarely a problem. We’ve done this many times.

What we work on

If it can be measured, it can be the number.

Across marketing, sales, operations, or almost any part of the business. We’re sector-agnostic: any size of company, any region, any industry.

Profit

EBITDA, gross margin, cost per unit or per order.

Customers

Customer acquisition cost, conversion through the pipeline, retention.

Sales

Revenue, new sales, average order value.

Operations

Cycle times, throughput, error and rework rates.

Is it a fit?

Who this works for.

  • You have a number worth moving, and the records to measure it.
  • You’ve paid for reports before and want the work done instead.
  • You’re ready to agree one clear target and stick to it.

Not a fit

Who it doesn’t.

  • The result can’t be measured, or can’t be traced back to the work.
  • You want a strategy deck for the drawer.
  • You only want hours on tap. That’s our coaching and mentoring, billed normally.

Questions

Frequently asked

How is the fee worked out?

Case by case, before we start. It can be a share of the gain (for example 10% or 20% of an agreed EBITDA increase), a set amount for each new sale, or a royalty as new revenue comes in. It is always tied to performance.

What happens if you miss the target?

Then we don’t get paid for the performance work. That’s the whole point of the model.

Who measures the result?

Your accountant, if you have one. We agree the metric, the starting figure and how they’re measured in writing first, and compare like for like.

Which numbers can you work on?

Anything specific and measurable: EBITDA, acquisition cost, new sales, conversion, cycle times and so on, across marketing, sales, operations or almost any part of the business.

Do you also work by the hour?

Yes. Coaching and mentoring run on a normal retainer or by the hour. Performance engagements are paid on results.

How quickly will we see movement?

Most engagements show real movement within weeks. We find the few things that actually move the number and execute fast.

Do you work outside the US?

Yes. We work with companies of any size, in any region and any sector.
